There have been some big rumours swirling around the release of Sony’s upcoming Marvel movie ‘Venom’, with Tom Hardy taking the titular role and currently in intense training for the flick. Working on boxing, kickboxing and MMA fighting for the movie, Hardy has been working alongside Mene and Nathan Jones, who have been helping him hone his skills in each of the disciplines.
Tom Hardy will star as ‘Venom’ in Sony’ upcoming movie
No official footage of Hardy has yet been released, but the actor is no stranger to teasing the role on his social media, posting a series of pictures from the set and behind-the-scenes to whet the appetites of fans. It’s something like nothing he’s ever done before, with the character he’s playing, also known as Eddie Brock, being someone who bonds with an alien symbiote.
In film production, he’ll not only have to work as actors regularly do, but with motion capture technology. It’s going to be a role that demands a heck of a lot of dedication.
Speaking in a new video posted to the web, one of the actor’s trainer had some big promises for fans of the star and his portrayal of the Marvel enemy, commenting: “What the world is going to see is one of the darkest, most powerful supervillains that Marvel has ever created. It’s going to be carnage.”
It’s certainly exciting to hear that Sony will be going dark for ‘Venom’, rather than sticking to the colourful landscape that’s presented by most of the films that make up the current Marvel Cinematic Universe. Hardy is without a doubt one of the best people for the role in this case, having proven he’s able to let out his dark side in such projects as ‘Bronson’ and BBC series ‘Taboo’.
Whether or not the film will be a success remains to be seen, but with Hardy’s inclusion as well as that of ‘Zombieland’ director Ruben Fleischer, all of the right ingredients are in place to make this a major blockbuster smash.
