EXCLUSIVE: Tim Matheson has joined the cast of Jumanji, Sony Pictures’ new adventure based on the 1995 original movie. Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart star alongside Jack Black, Karen Gillan, Nick Jonas, Rhys Darby and Morgan Turner in the pic, which was just slotted into a December 22, 2017 release date.
Matheson will play Old Man Vreeke in the action-adventure pic that Jake Kasdan is directing. Chris McKenna & Erik Sommers and Scott Rosenberg & Jeff Pinkner penned the script based on the book by Chris Van Allsburg. Matt Tolmach and William Teitler are producing, and David Householter, Kasdan, Johnson, Dany Garcia, Ted Field, Mike Weber, and Van Allsburg are executive producers.
Matheson was nominated for a Critics’ Choice Award for portraying Ronald Reagan in National Geographic’s Killing Reagan, which also earned a nom for co-star Cynthia Nixon as Nancy Reagan. He earned two Emmy nominations for playing Vice President John Hoynes on The West Wing. He also just wrapped a role the Netflix movie 6 Balloons and directed an upcoming episode of NBC’s midseason series Taken.
