‘The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1′: Pete Hammond Reviews The Juggernaut

Despite the story-arc challenges of being the first half of the last book of a trilogy, the latest Hunger Games installment Mockingjay – Part 1 is going to be just dandy for fans of the franchise’s books and movies, I say in my video review above. Credit a lot of that to star Jennifer Lawrence, back as the redoubtable Katniss Everdeen and now the public face of a budding revolution in this first half of the end of the story.

Because this isn’t the climax of the Hunger Games, we really should wait another year, for Mockingjay Part 2. But in the meantime, no one should worry whether this will attract plenty of fans, and give them reasons to come back.

The film is directed by Francis Lawrence from a script by Peter Craig and Danny Strong, from Suzanne Collins‘ adaptation of her books. It also stars Donald Sutherland, Julianne Moore, the late Philip Seymour Hoffman, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth and Woody Harrelson. Lionsgate is releasing the film overnight, with plenty of expectations that it will dominate the entire Thanksgiving week.

Are you planning to see the movie? Let us know what you think.
