In the end, demons were smited, souls were saved and things were certainly left open for another season of The Exorcist (0.6/3), which Fox has yet to offer a prayer for either way.
Part of that call will obviously be made on ratings, and while not a heavyweight, even for a Friday, the possession series based on William Peter Blatty’s bestseller and the classic 1973 movie was steady, at the very least. Last night’s “Chapter Ten” was even with its December 9 show among adults 18-49 and steady with its season average. Also even in Foxland was lead-in Hell’s Kitchen (1.0/4)
The head of the 8 PM timeslot and actually the highest rated show of the night was Last Man Standing (1.2/5). Up almost 10% from last week and matching a season high, the ABC comedy also hit a viewership season high of 6.8 million – up 3% from December 9. The laughs continued at the Disney-owned net with Dr. Ken (0.9/4) rising 13% from last week to match a demo season high itself. After a Shark Tank (0.8/3) repeat, a JonBenet Ramsey-focused 20/20 (1.0/4) saw a 25% demo jump over last week – its third best result of the season.
Even with big boy Blue Bloods (0.9/4) putting in an encore performance last night, CBS tied NBC for the demo win on Friday overall with a 1.0/4 rating but was tops in viewers with an audience of 8.34 million view. MacGyver (1.0/4) was another show even with last week while Hawaii Five-O (1.1/5) was down a tenth.
With the CW showing the 85th Annual Hollywood Christmas Parade (0.3/1) from 8 – 10 PM, NBC’s Caught On Camera With Nick Cannon (0.9/4) got some holiday cheer with a 50% leap in the demo to match a series high. Not so much for Dateline (1.0/4), which was down a tenth from its December 9 show.
Now get that Christmas shopping done!
