Taylor Swift will the first recipient of a new Taylor Swift Award given at the BMI Pop Awards next month. The award marks only the second time in the BMI’s 76-year history that it has presented an award in somebody’s name – the first being to the King of Pop himself, Michael Jackson, in 1990.
Swifty will be the first to receive a very special award – the Taylor Swift Award
Taking place in Beverly Hills on May, 10, the 64th ceremony will celebrate Swifty’s creative talent and her global influence on her millions of music fans.
Taylor already has a long-list of illustrious accomplishments including ten Grammy awards and is the youngest recipient in history to receive the music industry’s highest honour – the Grammy for Album of the Year.

She is also the only female artist to have won it twice and has seven BMI Awards including multiple Song of the Year awards spanning both the pop and country genres.
Speaking about the 27-year-old Wildest Dreams singer, BMI vice president of writer/publisher relations Barbara Cane described Swift’s “indomitable spirit”.

She said: “Taylor Swift has transformed pop culture through her songs, artistry and indomitable spirit.
“She has had a profound impact, not only musically, but also through her personal conviction and commitment to create a standard that values and respects music for everyone.
“We felt it appropriate to award Taylor with an honour that is as unique and special as she is.”
