Strap in, Steroline fans, because you’re about to board a rollercoaster of emotions. While last week’s season seven premiere of The Vampire Diaries brought us a squeal-inducing kiss between Caroline (Candice King) and Stefan (Paul Wesley), the second episode of the season brought some potentially bad news. Very bad news, in fact.
Are you ready? Don’t read on if you A) don’t want to get your dreams dashed and B) haven’t seen the episode, “Never Let Me Go.” Because it’s something you might not be able to recover from, alright?
At the end of the episode, which saw the Heretics cause a bunch more trouble, we jumped ahead to see Caroline three years in the future. This isn’t all bad news, because phew, Caroline is alive. But here’s the thing: She’s now an engaged woman, and NOT to Stefan. WE REPEAT: CAROLINE IS ENGAGED TO A DUDE WHO IS NOT STEFAN. And she doesn’t even want to hear the name Stefan Salvatore ever again.
CLICK: WTF is happening in three years on The Vampire Diaries?!
Frankly, the Heretics can destroy whatever the heck they want now that our Steroline dreams are in the midst of being crushed. (Okay, that’s harsh, everyone else is great and Mystic Falls needs to be saved, but we’re having a hard time dealing with this particular blow.)
Here’s the thing—in the present day, there’s still trouble in store for our ill-fated lovebirds now that the Heretics have put a curse on Caroline that makes her skin poisonous, preventing Stefan from being able to touch her. That’s going to be problematic, since all we want to see is Stefan and Caroline’s mouths touching as much as possible. (Is that weird? It’s true, so we’re just gonna own it.)
Are you, too, having trouble coping with the inevitable won’t-they of our current favorite TVD will-they-or-won’t-they? Share your thoughts in the comments!
The Vampire Diaries airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. on The CW.
