Sam Claflin is to star in new thriller ‘Nightingale’.
The ‘Hunger Games’ star and Aisling Franciosi, who starred in ‘The Fall’, are both attached to appear in ‘Babadook’ director Jennifer Kent’s next project.
Claflin’s involvement has been confirmed by Bron Studios on the company’s Twitter account.
The post – which was re-tweeted by the 30-year-old British actor – read: ”Very excited to be working on #TheNightingale with @SamClaflin & #TheBabadook’s writer/director Jennifer Kent! (sic)”
The cast for the period piece also includes Breaking Bad’s Damon Herriman, Ewen Leslie, ‘Hacksaw Ridge’ star Harry Greenwood, Baykali Ganambarr and Magnolia Maymuru.
The plot will centre on a 21-year-old Irish convict in Tasmania in 1825 who goes on a revenge mission with the help of an Aboriginal tracker after her husband and infant child are murdered.
Kent will soon be able to get the cameras rolling now the project has been financially backed by Bron Creative and Bruna Papandrea’s Made Up Stories and it marks the first production since Papandrea left her former production company Pacific Standard, which she started with actress Reese Witherspoon.
Additional finance has been sought through Screen Australia, Screen Tasmania and the South Australian Film Corporation.
‘Babadook’ producer Kristina Ceyton will produce the new feature, along with Papandrea.
