Thorsten Schumacher’s newly launched international sales outfit Rocket Science concluded a raft of sales on titles Juliet, Naked, The Old Man and the Gun and On Chesil Beach. Nick Hornby’s romantic comedy Juliet, Naked, starring Ethan Hawke, Rose Byrne and Chris O’Dowd, sold to a number of territories including Australia (Village Roadshow), Germany (Prokino), Latin America (Sun) and South Korea (Activers). Robert Redford and Casey Affleck starrer The Old Man and the Gun went to EuropaCorp in France, DCM in Germany and VVS in Canada, among others. Following an intital sale to Lionsgate for UK rights, On Chesil Beach, starring Saorise Ronan and based on Ian McEwan’s novel, sold to territories including Australia (Transmission), Canada (Elevation), France (Mars) and Japan (Tohokushinsha).
The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences and JCS International have joined forces on a new initiative, dubbed The JCS International Young Creatives Award, designed to discover, recognize and foster young talent from around the world while creating a global conversation around peace. The new competition is open to entrants between the ages of 18 and 30 and will have a different peace-based theme each year. Entrants must submit a 1-minute video on the theme of the year and the 2017 theme is “Women’s Peacemakers.” Three winners will receive the JCS International Young Creative Award each year at the International Emmy World Television Festival Nominee Medal Ceremony, in New York, alongside the International Emmy Award Nominees.
