Ric Flair ”feels bad” about claiming he has slept with 10,000 women.
The 68-year-old retired professional wrestler – who was recently diagnosed as having the early stages of kidney failure and congestive heart failure due to years of alcohol abuse – made the admission in an episode of ESPN’s ’30 for 30′ which is due to air in November, but has now said he wishes he’d kept the figure to himself because he doesn’t want his grandchildren to know.
He said: ”What I said was the truth, but I feel bad now that I said some of it. Ten thousand women. I wish I hadn’t said that because of my grandkids.”
And although Ric still believes he’s a ladies man, he now only has eyes for his partner Wendy Barlow.
He added: ”I love the ladies. I only love one now. I have never done anything since I met Wendy.”
Ric even credits Wendy with making him change his hard-living ways, and whilst he admits people won’t believe he’s changed ”overnight”, he’s intent on ”getting well” and ”enjoying life” with his partner.
Speaking to People magazine, Ric said: ”It’s going to be a hard sell overnight to say that ‘Hey, Ric Flair has changed.’ It’s going to take time, it’s going to take proof. But it’s still hard for me not to be me. But I’m really focused on getting well and just enjoying my life with Wendy.”
Meanwhile, the WWE legend recently admitted he was ”scared” by his health crisis, and vowed to ”never drink again”.
He said: ”I crashed in an airplane and broke my back, I’ve been hit by lightning. But this is totally different.
”Anything I’ve been through before is nothing like this … It scared the s**t out of me. But I’m not out of the woods yet. I didn’t think I was an alcoholic, but obviously I was.
”I’ll never drink again. I never want to go through this again.”
