Anonymous Content, TV Land and Daniel Dae Kim are teaming to adapt Re Jane, based on Patricia Park’s novel, as a half-hour comedy.
Set in the geographically close but highly disparate worlds of Flushing, Queens, and Brooklyn, Re Jane is the story of Jane Re, a honhyol (mixed race) Korean American woman who feels like an outsider in every sense. Feeling trapped by Korean principles that have defined her life so far, she finds an opportunity to jump into a different life when she becomes an au pair to the adopted Chinese daughter of Beth and Ed, a couple of Brooklyn intellectuals.
Maria Maggenti (Before I Fall, Finding Carter) will write the pilot, which will be produced by Anonymous Content’s Steve Golin and Doreen Wilcox Little, along with Hawaii Five-O’s Daniel Dae Kim and Lindsay Goffman of 3AD for Paramount Television.
