Fall 2016 will be less crowded by at least one: Paramount Picture’s Rings, previously scheduled for October 28, has been bumped to a February 3, 2017 wide release. The move give Universal’s Ouija: Origin of Evil, opening October 21, a good stake on the Halloween market.
This marks the second time this year that Rings has gotten a push-back from Paramount: the studio had already bumped the picture from its April 1, 2016 date to October 28. The film had originally been set for November 2015.
Paramount announced the move today, also noting that its Friday the 13th has been moved from January 13, 2017, to October 13, 2017.
Rings is directed by Javier Gutierrez and stars Matilda Lutz, Alex Roe, Johnny Galecki, Aimee Teegarden, Bonnie Morgan and Vincent D’Onofrio and is being produced by Walter Parkes and Laurie Macdonald from a screenplay by Jacob Aaron Estes, Akiva Goldsman, and David Loucka.
Paramount released a trailer for the film in August.
