Gone Girl star Boyd Holbrook has already signed on as the male lead, a Special Forces commando, and now Olivia is in talks to play a scientist in the alien action movie.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the plot will follow the titular alien hunter as it creates havoc in suburbia.

Shane Black is directing the remake, titled The Predator, from a script he co-wrote with Fred Dekker.

Production is expected to begin in February (17) for a 2018 release.

Rapper 50 Cent is also said to be onboard for the movie, while Black is reportedly trying to recruit franchise hero Arnold Schwarzenegger to return to the series for his revamp.

Schwarzenegger starred in the original Predator, which was directed by John MCTiernan in 1987. The last film in the franchise was 2010’s Predators, which featured Adrien Brody and Laurence Fishburne. It grossed $127 million (£102 million) worldwide from a $40 million (£32 million) budget.

The Predator is Olivia’s latest big blockbuster – she recently starred in X-Men: Apocalypse as mutant superhero Psylocke.

Ironically, Boyd is also part of the Marvel family, albeit on the supervillain side. He is set to play X-Men nemesis Donald Pierce in the upcoming Logan movie, which will reportedly serve as Hugh Jackman’s final outing as Logan and his alter ego Wolverine.

Black has his links to the Marvel world, too – he directed 2013’s Iron Man 3, with Robert Downey, Jr. as the titular superhero.
