Noel Gallagher seems to have reversed his stance on Ed Sheeran, having previously described the ‘Sing’ star headlining Wembley as symptomatic of a world he couldn’t bear to live in. In a new interview with Shortlist, however, he was asked about his issues with Sheeran and replied “I won’t hear a word against him.”
So why the reversal? Normally when the former Oasis songwriter has a beef with someone, it rumbles on for years. Just ask Damon Albarn. But it appears that Gallagher’s change of heart is down to Sheeran following up on a promise to perform at the Teenage Cancer Trust show in the future.
Noel Gallagher has changed his mind about Ed Sheeran
“What I will say about Ed is that when I was doing those concerts, you kind of call up artists and say ‘We’re doing this thing, can you come and help us?’ And a lot of heartless cruel bands do that thing where they go ‘Aw I can’t do it this year mate, I’m busy [or] we’ve got a gig in f*****g Kenya. But next year we’ll definitely do it’.”

Gallagher continued: “The only person that has ever said that and called me back the next year is Ed Sheeran. And I thought, you know what, you’ll do for me man.” He finished off by declaring Sheeran to be a “good lad and I won’t hear a word said against him.”
Then again, anybody could have told him that Sheeran is that sort of guy. In March 2014, for instance, he raised £1,000 for a charity shop in his native Suffolk by donating a haul of his designer clothes.
Noel Gallagher’s second solo album Chasing Yesterday is being released next week [March 2nd], while Ed Sheeran won big at the 2015 Brit Awards on Wednesday night, clinching the awards for Best British Album and British Male Solo Artist, two of the four categories in which he was nominated.
