Nicki Minaj has tried to clear up some misconceptions about her relationship status in a new TV interview, hinting that she is still engaged to Meek Mill but that wedding bells may not be featuring in her immediate future.
The ‘Anaconda’ rapper, 33, has previously been reported as ‘begging’ her rapper beau to stop referring to her as his fiancée in public. Speaking to Ellen DeGeneres on Thursday (April 7th) about her ‘engagement’ ring, she revealed that she has two diamond rings from him, but neither is actually the real deal in terms of getting married.
Nicki Minaj spoke a bit more about her relationship with ‘fiance’ Meek Mill
“First of all, that’s not an engagement ring,” Minaj told Ellen she asked about the jewellery. “I have two rings from this boy that likes me… and he said that that’s my second ring and that if I get a third ring that that would be the engagement ring.”
Then, she revealed that she’d simply like to refer to herself as “single” to avoid all the questions she keeps getting asked about whether she’s getting hitched or not.

“I don’t know. We’re still figuring each other out. And, in fact, I don’t even want to say I’m in a relationship anymore,” she revealed, somewhat surprisingly. “I think when people hear that they go to, like, the mean place.”
Asked a bit more about her curious attitude towards her lengthy relationship with the rapper, who is currently serving a term of 90 days’ house arrest. “Well, you know, I used to say, ‘I’m not in a relationship’ even though I was in a 12-year relationship. And then now I feel like just going back to that and saying, ‘you know what? I’m single’.”
