People’s champagne wishes and caviar dreams have come true.
Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous—the popular TV series hosted by Robin Leach from the late ’80s and early ’90s that featured the extravagant lifestyles of wealthy entertainers, athletes and business moguls—is coming back to the small screen.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, who first reported the story, NBC has ordered a new pilot for the former syndicated series, and it will star new host Nick Cannon.
Does this all sound familiar? It should…

The news comes more than a year after the Style network originally revived the series with Cannon attached. However, Style was then rebranded as the Esquire Network two months later, which put a halt on the project.
“Robin Leach passed the torch to me, now I’m producing and hosting the new Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous,” Cannon told E! News of the gig at the time. “You know what? I think rich and famous people take themselves too seriously. I’m gonna be just like I am on this show [America’s Got Talent]. I’ll be like what the hell? Gold toilet seats?! Let’s pop bottles.”
As for seeing him share his lavish lifestyle, Nick told us, “I don’t feel rich and famous. I never do.”
According to THR, NBC’s take on the show will differ from what Style had in mind. The new version will focus heavily on Cannon’s point of view and include fun profiles on ultra-wealthy individuals with vibrant personalities, hobbies and tastes.
(E! and NBC are both part of the NBCUniversal family.)
