New York’s Electric Zoo music festival has been cancelled for the second time in consecutive years, this time over “extreme weather conditions”. Last year’s festival was cancelled after two drug-related deaths. Organizers announced late on Sunday afternoon that Electric Zoo would be “shutting down for the remainder of the festival.”

“Update: THERE WILL BE NO RE-ENTRY. Due to extreme weather conditions, the festival has shut down for the remainder of the day,” they tweeted.
“Many fans have asked about refunds for today’s show. We appreciate your patience. More info will be posted soon on http://www.electriczoofestival.com,” he said.

Staged at Randall’s Island Park, the festival opened its doors on Friday 29 August and was due to be headlined by Diplo’s collaboration Jack U, David Guetta, Armin Van Buuren, Laidback Luke, Skrillex.
In a press release, spokesman Stefan Friedman said that the decision was made with New York officials after Randall Island was hit by heavy thunder and flashes of lightning. The United States’ National Weather Service issued flash-flood warnings.

Another of the headliners, Kaskade took to Twitter to express his displeasure at the closure, joking, “Soooooo.. Who has the keys to @barclayscenter???” he joked.
“I can’t believe this!! I was so looking forward to playing Sunday night,” tweeted the Swedish DJ Alesso.
Australian duo What So Not, said, “Sadly won’t be playing NYC today. … Who wants to hit the bar?”
Electric Zoo has now be running for five years and has become a popular destination for electronic dance music fans.
