Everyone loves a good horror series on Netflix and their latest addition, ‘Stranger Things’, is likely to be no exception. There’s something paranormal going on in the small town of Hawkins, Indiana, where a number of unexplained appearances have disturbed everyone, especially that of a school child.
If you’ve exhausted the likes of ‘Bates Motel’, ‘American Horror Story’ and ‘Hemlock Grove’ and need another spook-fest to get stuck into this year, don’t miss ‘Stranger Things’. It’s out today on Netflix and explores the mysterious disappearance of a young boy in 80s Indiana.
Introducing horror veteran Winona Ryder (‘Black Swan’, ‘Beetlejuice’) as lead star Joyce Byers, who spends most of the series deeply distressed because her son, Will, has just vanished into thin air. Literally. He and his friends are big on the supernatural, but they certainly weren’t expecting this to happen as they rode home on their bikes after an evening of Dungeons & Dragons. From first glance, we don’t know what force has taken over this town; is it alien? Spiritual? You’ll have to watch to found out. The series also stars ‘Quantum of Solace’ actor David Harbour, Matthew Modine from ‘Weeds’ and ‘Mad Men’ star Cara Buono.
Plus, there’s a talented young cast featuring Noah Schnapp who voiced Charlie in ‘The Peanuts Movie’ last year, Finn Wolfhard who is set to appear in the Stephen King ‘It’ reboot, another newcomer Gaten Matarazzo and Caleb McLaughlin from ‘Shades of Blue’.

Created by twin brothers Matt Duffer and Ross Duffer, ‘Stranger Things’ previously had the working title of ‘Montauk’ (because it was meant to be set in New York) and has been executive produced by Shawn Levy – a name you’ll likely a associate with comedies like ‘Night at the Museum’ and ‘The Internship’.
The 8-episode first series hits Netflix today (July 15th 2016).
