Worthy bump up from prior model,
While it doesn’t solve essential yet missing features like booth out, the S4 MK2 is still a great improvement over the previous S4. The differences will stand out most for those who use their S4 often with a lot of Traktor features: new flux mode, matching-color cue lights, brighter / more colorful lights, and a much more solid feel.

I’ve been playing around with different dj controllers for a couple of years and slowly worked my way up to this one. I spend a lot of time researching my purchases before making them and this was no exception. Previously I had been 100% serato. I personally had a novation twitch and I played around with a friends DDJ SX. Yet for me personally, this controller suits my needs best. Unlike serato Traktor already has a midi send option, so you can run ableton, or maschine or other sample/loop launching software from the same computer and send to one audio interface. You can also be running the remix decks in the software with is more or less an in software version of the session mode on live. I went back and forth as to whether to buy a new model or an old model, each came bundled with the same software and the same layout, but in the end I went with the new one. After reading reviews of the old it sounds like it may have felt cheap, and this one to me does not. In comparison to the DDJ SX I really like the visual feedback more on this controller. While operating four deck mode on the DDJ SX I would find myself losing track of which deck was selected and messing everything up. This on the other hand gives you feedback for not only hot cues but also hot loops and which decks are active which are live and which are loaded. Using the Flux mode (slip on DDJ SX) doesn’t take anytime for the controller to reset (as it does on the DDJ SX) and it is much more portable. The software is great, the hardware is great, there is a little bit of a learning curve but once you have it figured out it’s seriously a lot of fun. I would recommend this controller to anyone who is looking to take their performance to a new level.

Just amazing,
For the price, in my opinion, there is no better controller/software combo than this. Traktor pro 2 is outstanding and very easy to use, and anything you might need to change or controll in Traktor is assigned on the controller. The only time I have to touch my computer is when I’m turning it on. The controls are very firm and solid, and everything is brightly lit and easily recognizable. The effects and faders are flawless (also includes the 3-band EQs) The on-the-go loop creation and playback is the best I have ever used. The plug and play ability makes the S4 very easy to set up. I applaud NI for their outstanding work, I am very impressed.
