Metallica are marking the 20th anniversary of their seminal stay LP ‘S&M’ with a particular orchestral present.
James Hetfield and co will carry out with the accompaniment of the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra – who performed on the heavy steel legends’ stay album and DVD – on the opening of the Chase Center within the US metropolis on September 6.
Announcing the live performance, which has been dubbed ‘S&M²’, Hetfield and drummer Lars Ulrich joined the Orchestra’s music director Michael Tilson Thomas at a press convention on the new house for the NBA group the Golden State Warriors.

‘S&M’, which was launched on November 23, 1999, was the ultimate Metallica album to function Jason Newsted because the band’s bassist, following his sudden departure from the ‘Nothing Else Matters’ group – additionally comprised of Robert Trujillo and Kirk Hammett – in January 2001.
