The war of words between Drake and Meek Mill is intensifying this week, after Mill slammed the Canadian’s much-discussed diss track as “baby lotion soft”.
Drake released the track ‘Charged Up’ over the weekend in response to Meek Mill’s repeated claims that he didn’t actually write his own lyrics, using a ghostwriter to pen his rhymes instead. It featured barbs such as “Wow, I’m honoured that you think this is staged / I’m flattered man, in fact I’m amazed… You boys aren’t gettin’ any of your feelings on me / You should embrace it this could be one our realest moments”.

Philadelphia-based Mill made the comments on Sunday night (July 26th) as he was performing a support slot at his girlfriend Nicki Minaj’s gig at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. “I was doing my album and I asked (Drake) to give me a verse for my album, but (Drake) gave me a verse that he didn’t write that another (person) wrote.”

He then mentioned ‘Charged Up’: “I heard that (song), that (song) was very soft, baby lotion soft,” while following up on Twitter later with “I can tell he wrote that 1 tho…” Over to you, Drizzy!
Minaj also joined in with taking pot shots at Drake, telling the audiences how she wrote all her own verses – also possibly a reference to her ex-boyfriend Safaree, who once claimed that he penned her lyrics.
This beef started up last week after Mill mentioned during a Twitter tirade that the superstar rapper didn’t actually write the verse that he contributed to Mill’s track ‘R.I.C.O.’, which appeared on his recent US Number 1 album Dreams Worth More Than Money.
On Thursday, Quentin Miller, the man alleged to be Drake’s ghostwriter vehemently denied the claim on his personal Tumblr page. Who knows where this spat will take us next?
