Liam Gallagher has made a last-minute effort to reach a child support settlement with the mother of his two-year-old daughter, Gemma.
The legal team of the former Oasis star and Gemma’s mother, journalist Liza Ghorbani, are due to meet in a Manhattan court room on Thursday morning (26.03.15), but Liam hopes that his offer – which is in excess of the $ 5,000-a-month interim payments he has been making – will bring the hearing to a swift end.
Raoul Felder – Gallagher’s attorney – told the New York Post newspaper: ”A settlement has been offered. We hope to announce it to the court first thing on Thursday.”
Meanwhile, Ira Garr, the lawyer of Ghorbani, said: ”I believe there will be a settlement. My client is sleeping on it.”
Both sets of lawyers refused to reveal the precise settlement figure being discussed, explaining there is a confidentiality agreement in place.
Ghorbani will attend court later today, but Gallagher is not required or expected to attend the hearing, and has never met his daughter, who turns three in December.
The 42-year-old rocker was confirmed as the baby’s father following a DNA test and was sued by his former lover in 2013 after he failed to agree an out of court child support settlement.
