If any star of modern pop culture could pull off the perfect David Bowie tribute, it’s got to be Lady GaGa. Indeed, we’ll get to see the singer in action as she takes Lady Stardust to the Grammys this February to celebrate the life and career of one of her most obvious idols.
Lady Gaga has long been a fan of David Bowie’s work
While she was already booked to perform at the awards show, following Bowie’s death on January 10th it was obvious that a new direction needed to be taken for her performance given that her artistry has long drawn parallels with that of the ‘Life On Mars’ hitmaker.
‘We had already booked Lady Gaga on this year’s show, but when David passed – almost in a single moment – we knew we had to change direction’, said Grammy Awards executive producer Ken Ehrlich in a statement. ‘We immediately spoke and agreed that she should be the one to honor David. She’s perfect for it.’
Her tribute – the details of which are as yet unknown – will be directed by Nile Rodgers, who’s also well known for producing Bowie’s 1983 album ‘Let’s Dance’, and it definitely won’t be a moment to miss given Gaga’s extreme admiration and respect for him. ‘He’s sort of like an alien prince’, she previously said of her fandom on Alan Carr’s chat show. ‘Every morning I wake up and I think, ‘What would Bowie do?”

Gaga is also nominated for a Grammy for Best Song Written For Visual Media, after her track ‘Til It Happens To You’ featured on the harrowing documentary ‘The Hunting Ground’.
More performers at the ceremony will include Adele, James Bay, Ellie Goulding, Kendrick Lamar, Little Big Town and Carrie Underwood, while LL Cool J will return as the show’s host.
The Grammys will be broadcast on February 15th 2016 on CBS.
