The Damien Chazelle movie picked up the Darryl F. Zanuck Award for top feature film at the 28th annual ceremony, which took place at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles.
Dustin Hoffman presented the award to producers Fred Berger, Jordan Horowitz, and Marc Platt, as the movie musical beat off competition from Arrival, Deadpool, Fences, Hacksaw Ridge, Hell or High Water, Hidden Figures, Lion, Manchester by the Sea, and Moonlight.
Historical drama Loving took home the Stanley Kramer Award, while director, producer and screenwriter James L. Brooks was honoured with the Norman Lear Achievement Award in television.
The PGA Awards best film pick has mirrored the Oscars’ Best Picture winner in 19 of 27 years. Birdman, 12 Years a Slave, Argo, The Artist, The King’s Speech, The Hurt Locker, Slumdog Millionaire and No Country for Old Men all picked up both.
But last year (16) the Darryl F. Zanuck Award for top feature film went to The Big Short, while the Oscar went to Spotlight.

The mini-series O.J.: Made in America won the documentary award, while The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story picked up the David L. Wolper Award for Outstanding Producer of Long-Form Television.
Disney’s Zootopia claimed the animated movie trophy for producer Clark Spencer, while FX’s series Atlanta won the Danny Thomas award for best episodic comedy.
The Voice scooped the reality competition trophy, while Jerry Seinfeld’s Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee took the digital series trophy, with Last Week Tonight with John Oliver winning the live entertainment-talk award.
