Kim Kardashian West is the most searched celebrity on Bing in 2017.
The ‘Keeping Up With The Kardashians’ star’s plan to ”break the internet” continued in 2017 as it was revealed fans couldn’t stop looking up about the mother-of-two on the search engine.
Following closely behind Kim was Meghan Markle and it is possible that Meghan may knock Kim off her throne as the searches for the ‘Suits’ actress could sky rocket over the next 12 months after she and Prince Harry announced their engagement late last month. Taylor Swift’s return to music with her album ‘Reputation’ made her a huge hit with fans whilst the arrival of Cheryl Tweedy’s baby Bear, who she shares with Liam Payne, ensured she ranked highly on the list, with her boyfriend in at number nine too.
Kylie Jenner – and the news that she is reportedly expecting a baby with her boyfriend Travis Scott – lodged her firmly at sixth place, just ahead of Beyonce, who welcomed twins, Rumi and Sir, with her husband Jay Z earlier this year. George Clooney completed the top 10, no doubt thanks to his Hollywood career and the arrival of his and Amal Clooney’s twins, Alexander and Ella.
When it comes to the British royals, the most popular search in this category was the 20th anniversary of Princess Diana’s passing, which was commemorated in August. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s engagement, Kate Middleton’s announcement of her third pregnancy and The Queen and Prince Philip celebrating 70 years of marriage also ranked highly.
Kevin Stagg, Head of Marketing at Bing, said: ”The significant role that search plays in our lives reflects our natural curiosity about the world around us. Observing trends therefore reveals a lot about our culture and where we place our attention. Some of the insights may surprise but ultimately, they demonstrate the connections we seek with other people, events, and generally the world around us.”
