Despite her ongoing divorce proceedings with her husband Lamar Odom being tangled up in the courts for nearly three years, Khloe Kardashian has explained that she’ll continue to support him in accordance with her wedding vows.
The 31 year old reality star wrote an essay for Lena Dunham’s newsletter ‘Lenny’ on Tuesday (May 17th) about her Christian faith. In it, she addressed the current situation regarding her divorce from NBA player Odom, the proceedings of which stalled in autumn 2015 when he was hospitalised.
“I’ve been blessed with a lot in my life, and I’ve also had challenges,” she wrote. “It was a challenge for me when I decided to get divorced.”

However, she insisted that she’ll be sticking by her estranged husband and that she’s satisfied herself that she did everything she could to keep their four-year marriage together.
“At my core, I don’t believe in divorce, but I came to a point in my marriage where I had to make the choice to take care of my own mental and emotional well-being in order to protect myself and my happiness. I am at peace with that decision and do feel like I honoured my vows to the very end.”

Proceedings were halted in October 2015 when Odom suffered a near-fatal overdose in a legal brothel in Nevada, with Khloe obtaining the power to make medical decisions on his behalf as he spent several weeks in a coma.
“I feel that I kept the serious vows I made in front of God with every inch of my heart, which is why I am still honouring them today even though my relationship with my ex-husband is in a different place. I believe in caring for my partner – past or present – ‘in sickness and in health,’ and feel at peace with my relationship with God even after the fact. I’m thankful that I can rely on my God, who, along with my family, has led me through some of the most difficult times of my life.”
