Netflix have revealed that they have officially cut all ties with Kevin Spacey, announcing that they won’t be working with the actor on the sixth season of ‘House of Cards’, and categorically stating that they will not be releasing their original film ‘Gore’, which stars and is produced by the actor.

The decision by the company comes after Anthony Rapp’s sexual harassment allegations, with the ‘Star Trek: Discovery’ actor alleging that Spacey propositioned him at a party when he was just 14 years old. Spacey would have been 26 at the time.
Since Rapp’s story broke, a number of other men have come forward and spoken out with their own accusations against Spacey, including a number of employees who have worked on production for ‘House of Cards’.
In a statement posted to Buzzfeed writer Adam B. Vary’s Twitter account – the man who broke Rapp’s story online – the streaming company said: “Netflix will not be involved with any further production of ‘House of Cards’ that includes Kevin Spacey. We will continue to work with MRC during this hiatus time to evaluate our path forward as it relates to the show. We have also decided we will not be moving forward with the release of the film ‘Gore’, which was in post-production, starring and produced by Kevin Spacey.”
Spacey is now being investigated by London authorities in relation to a case that allegedly took place in 2008 whilst he was at the Old Vic theatre. Meanwhile, the actor is said to be seeking “evaluation and treatment” following the accusations levelled against him.
Whatever all of this means for ‘House of Cards’ remains to be seen, but rumours suggest that Spacey’s character Frank Underwood will be killed off, with Robin Wright left to lead the series as Claire Underwood. We imagine more details surrounding the upcoming storyline will be revealed in the coming weeks and months.
