It’s not every day that one of the most powerful men in the world tells you that one of your songs has been their favourite track of 2015. But that was exactly what happened to Kendrick Lamar when Barack Obama named his tune How Much A Dollar Cost? as his top track of the year.
Kendrick Lamar thinks President Obama’s praise is “great”
And what do you then say to the President of the United States when he reveals this? You responded with a cool, calm and collected: “That’s great.”
Lamar’s lauded track appears on his latest album To Pimp A Butterfly and TMZ asked the rapper how he felt about Obama’s praise.

Referring to the accolade, Lamar said: “Man, that’s great, man.”
When asked to further clarify the meaning of the song, he said: “Help as many people as you can, man, if you want to live forever.”

Lamar’s tune made the cut in a list compiled by the President of his favourite things in 2015.
President Obama’s wife Michelle claimed Mark Ronson’s Uptown Funk as the best song she had heard in the past 12 months.
The pair also chose their favourite films of the year with President Obama calling Matt Damon’s The Martian the movie he enjoyed the most and the First Lady opting for Pixar animation, Inside Out.
