Keanu Reeves says the ‘Bill & Ted 3’ movie is nearly ready.
The 52-year-old actor – who stars opposite Alex Winter in the time travelling movie – has confirmed there will definitely be a third instalment of the popular film series but admits it is currently being held up by the ”business” side of things.
He said: ”Bill & Ted 3 is right now stuck in showbusiness land so creatively we’re good to go but in the business sense, the rights and all of the complications and contracts that need to be made are not.”
And Keanu – who starred as Ted Logan in the 1989 movie and its sequel in 1991 – has teased some details from the upcoming film.
He added to Metro.co.uk: ”Bill and Ted are supposed to write the song that’s supposed to change the world but it hasn’t happened so they’re older now and they’re still trying to find out that song.
”They’re possessed by it – their marriages are not quite working out and their kids are grown up. Future comes back and says if you guys don’t write this song, it’s not the world but the universe – all of time is going to break apart – so they’ve got more pressure and hijinks.”
Meanwhile, Keanu previously teased ‘Bill & Ted 3’ is ”getting closer”.
He said at the time: ”We’re closer and we’re not closer. We’re trying to get the story right. We’re working with this studio so we have a little bit of support, in a sense of like if the material comes through we’ll try and make this picture.”
Whilst Alex – who played Bill S. Preston Esq. in the original movies – revealed his co-star had been tuning into the old films for the last several months and was keen to do a third movie.
Alex said: ”He started watching the earliest cuts of this movie a year ago, and was just super into it.
”It’s really funny, because I asked him (if he wanted to do a sequel) and I could tell he was waiting for me to ask. Because he was like, ‘Yeah, duh.”’
