Julia Louis-Dreyfus might be flying to Evanston, Ill., a little bit more often now that her son, Charlie Hall (real name Charles Hall), has joined Northwestern University’s basketball team as a walk-on!
He probably won’t see much action on the court as a freshman walk-on, but you know the crowds are going to go wild(cats) for Hall to get in the game. (Anybody else singing “Getcha Head in the Game” from High School Musical right now?). The Veep star and her husband must be extra proud, as they both graduated from Northwestern. She even tweeted her excitement about her son’s feat.
“So proud of our boy,” she wrote. “Yes, he got the height from me.”
His height, which he most definitely got from his father, rings in at 6 feet 5 inches.

According to his sports bio, Hall was quite the basketball all-star in high school, so it’s no surprise that he’d make it so early on in college. There are a lot of stats, terms and other notable mentions that we won’t bog you down with here, but the point is that this guy is one talented athlete and leader—he was team captain, obviously.
Sure, Hall is #blessed to have made it and have his parents be who is parents are, but consider how lucky the roster writer was who got to write up this bio:
Personal: Born Charles Thompson Hall … Son of Brad Hall and Julia Louis-Dreyfus … Parents are both actors and Northwestern alums … Mother is a seven-time Emmy Award winner who has starred in television shows such as Seinfeld, The New Adventures of Old Christine and Veep … Attended same high school as former NBA players Baron Davis and Austin Croshere and actors Jack Black, Jonah Hill, Gwyneth Paltrow, Kate Hudson and Zooey Deschanel.
Associate Director of Athletic Communications at Northwestern University Nick Brilowski might have said it best with this tweet:
Congratulations, Charlie!
