Fusion host Jorge Ramos just took down Donald Trump in one sentence.
“Right now Donald Trump is, no question, the loudest voice of intolerance, hatred and devision in the United States,” the host said Tuesday on “America with Jorge Ramos.”
Ramos criticized the details of the reality TV star’s immigration proposal, saying that deporting 11 million people and stripping birthright citizenship from the children of undocumented immigrants is the wrong approach and “simply impossible to achieve.”
He pointed out that Trump’s ideas for getting so many people out of the country fall flat on specifics. “Is he going to do it by plane, by bus? Is he going to send the Army?” Ramos asked.
The Fusion host took particular aim at Trump’s plan for stripping birthright citizenship from the children of undocumented immigrants. “He might not like it, but the last time I checked, the 14th Amendment read that ‘all persons born in the United States are citizens of the United States,'” he said.
Ramos added that 16 million Latinos are expected to turn out in 2016, which could swing the election.
“Countries are defined not by the way they treat the rich and powerful, but by the way they treat the most vulnerable,” he said. “And in this case, the most vulnerable are the immigrants.”
