New reports indicate that Joni Mitchell is on the slow road to recovery after her hospitalisation earlier this year. Her conservator has revealed that her health is improving and that she is, in fact, able to speak.
Leslie Morris, her legal guardian and conservator, released a statement through Mitchell’s official website on Sunday (June 28th) providing some details on her condition for the first time in a while. She noted that, while Mitchell did indeed suffer an aneurysm, she is in fact “speaking well” and is expected to make a full recovery.
Joni Mitchell is able to speak, according to her conservator
Morris, a close friend of the singer for many years, was appointed as conservator in May after a judge ruled that Mitchell was unable to make health care decisions for herself and had no relatives who could serve that role.

While the 71 year old Grammy winner and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer is currently unable to walk, she is expected to be able to do so soon and therefore make a complete recovery. “She is resting comfortably in her own home and she’s getting better each day,” the statement added.
Mitchell was first hospitalised on March 31st, having been discovered unconscious at her home in Los Angeles. This latest development corrects the recent reports, after Mitchell’s friend, guitarist David Crosby, told HuffPost Live that the singer was still unable to speak after the incident, to his knowledge.
“She had an aneurysm, and nobody found her for a while,” the 73 year old said in a Twitter question and answer session last week. “And she’s going to have to struggle back from it the way you struggle back from a traumatic brain injury.”
