John Mayer has likened Frank Ocean’s new music to ”space reggae”.

The 39-year-old musician recently listened to new music the ‘Novacane’ hitmaker is currently working on, and although the star has promised to keep details of the artistry close to his chest, because it’s Frank’s ”business”, he has teased it is a medley between ”future reggae” and an other worldly sound.

Speaking about the 29-year-old vocalist’s upcoming singles in an Instagram Live video, the dark-haired hunk said: ”Favourite Frank Ocean song ‘Sweet Life’.

”He played me this song the other day. I won’t say the title, that’s his business. He’s doing stuff right now that’s … talk about space reggae, future reggae, that’s Frank Ocean. Frank Ocean’s future reggae.”

And the star has hinted he is slowly becoming a fan of the rock band The 1975, which is made up of Matthew Healy, Adam Hann, Ross MacDonald, and George Daniel.

Speaking about the ‘Somebody Else’ vocalists, he said: ”Every time I have heard The 1975 song I have enjoyed that it was on, I was excited that it was on and I have said to myself I like this band. And that to me is one step away from being a devoted fan to The 1975, and that’s what I call an honest answer.”

And Mayer has vowed to always play his 2006 hit single ‘Slow Dancing in a Burning Room’ because he finds it ”hard” not to include it in his performances.

When asked what his favourite song to play is, he said: ”That’s a great question. Well, ‘Slow Dancing in a Burning Room’ that’s a hard one not to play.”

However, his ”favourite” song of all time is Eric Clapton’s ‘Old Love’ track, which he wished he had penned and released.

He explained: ”Favourite song to play that isn’t my own. ‘Old Love’ by Eric Clapton’s, that’s a great one. I wish that was my own.”
