It’s a sad day in the world of fashion and Hollywood as legendary star Joan Rivers died on Thursday (September 4).
At 81-years-old, the “Fashion Police” host passed away alongside her family after she was admitted to the hospital last week due to a cardiac arrest inside her doctor’s office.
“It is with great sadness that I announce the death of my mother, Joan Rivers,” her daughter Melissa said in a statement.
“She passed peacefully at 1:17pm surrounded by family and close friends. My son and I would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff of Mount Sinai Hospital for the amazing care they provided for my mother. Cooper and I have found ourselves humbled by the outpouring of love, support, and prayers we have received from around the world. They have been heard and appreciated.”
“My mother’s greatest joy in life was to make people laugh. Although that is difficult to do right now, I know her final wish would be that we return to laughing soon.”
The boisterous comedian stopped breathing while undergoing a surgical procedure on her vocal chords last week and was rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles. She was admitted into ICU and her daughter flew to LA to be by her side.
Over the weekend, Melissa expressed that she was hopeful and told press, “We are keeping our fingers crossed.”
Plenty of memorial messages are already pouring in through social media. She will be missed. RIP Joan Rivers.
