Jill Goodacre Defends Erin Heatherton Following Victoria’s Secret Weight Controversy

Another model is speaking out less than one day after model Erin Heatherton revealed that Victoria’s Secret asked her to lose weight.

Jill Goodacre was on the arm of her husband, Harry Connick Jr., during the live finale of American Idol when she caught up with E! News to give her two cents on the controversy.

“I think every female should be happy in their own skin and if you see a curvy woman, that’s beautiful,” the mother of three daughters told us.

“I mean, you exude how you feel and there should be no pressure to lose weight. I think that’s wrong, I really do.”

Yesterday, Heatherton’s interview with Time magazine’s Motto website revealed a different side to the successful model’s early career days.

Heatherton explained how the lingerie retail giant asked to her lose weight ahead of their highly anticipated annual fashion shows.

“My last two Victoria’s Secret shows, I was told I had to lose weight,” she said. “I look back like, ‘Really?'”

While preparing for the 2013 show, the blonde beauty shared that the pressure made her “really depressed because I was working so hard and I felt like my body was resisting me,” adding, “And I got to a point where one night I got home from a workout and I remember staring at my food and thinking maybe I should just not eat.” Victoria’s Secret had no comment in response to Heatherton’s interview.

And in the end, the 27-year-old left her five-year career with the brand to focus on her overall health and well-being.

“I realized I couldn’t go out into the world—parading my body and myself in front of all these women who look up to me—and tell them that this is easy and simple and everyone can do this.”
