The former X Factor winner’s comeback album Back From the Edge outsold Elvis’ The Wonder Of You and crooner Buble’s Nobody But Me over the past week to debut at number one. Elvis drops to two and Buble, who revealed his son is battling cancer on Friday (04Nov16), is at three.
Arthur was dropped by Simon Cowell’s record label Syco in 2014, after a series of controversies, including the use of a homophobic slur in a rap.
But the singer battled back from his career and personal hell, and last month (Oct16) hit the top of the U.K. singles chart with Say You Won’t Let Go after resigning with Syco. That song holds firm at two on the new singles chart, just behind Little Mix’s Shout Out To My Ex.
Meanwhile, rounding out the album chart top five is Mapping The Rendezvous by the Courteeners and veteran ska group Madness’ Can’t Touch Us Now, the band’s first album in four years.
