Sir Tom Jones is reportedly in the middle of “final talks” to re-join ‘The Voice’ ahead of its move to ITV for its next series, a year after he was given the boot from the reality show.
The 76 year old Welsh singer was deeply unhappy with the way he was dealt with when the BBC decided to axe him last summer in favour of Boy George, but now, with a new set of producers looking to re-vamp the much-criticised show, he’s preparing himself to return.
According to a report in The Sun, bosses at ITV are said to be keen on getting Jones aboard as he “commands respect”.
Sir Tom Jones is reportedly eyeing a return to ‘The Voice UK’ when it comes to ITV
An ITV insider is quoted as saying: “Tom is keen to get back on the show – something he wouldn’t have been if it was still on the Beeb rather than ITV. It’s being seen as a masterstroke to get him back as he’s worked with them all – including Elvis – and commands respect.”
However, sources close to the singer also told the paper that he’s still grieving for his wife of nearly 60 years Linda, who passed away in April after a long battle with cancer.

“The only thing that’s holding him back is whether it’s too soon after his wife’s death and whether that makes it the right decision.”
The path is clear for Jones to return, as his replacement on last year’s final BBC series of ‘The Voice’, Boy George, has ruled himself out of returning for the next season. Paloma Faith and Ricky Wilson have also both either been given the axe or are not coming back, meaning that Will.i.am is so far the only judge from the BBC series to make the transition to ITV.
An ever-present on the British edition of the show, the Black Eyed Peas singer recently joked, regarding the controversial EU referendum, “I know ‘The Voice’ switched to ITV, but I’m not going to Brexit ‘The Voice UK.’ I’m happy to make ITV my home now. I love the UK.”
