Paul Thomas Anderson’s Inherent Vice, based on the Thomas Pynchon novel, is set in a drug-filled 1970s Los Angeles with a cast of characters that includes surfers, hustlers, dopers, rockers, a murderous loan shark, LAPD detectives, and a tenor sax player working undercover — to mention a few. Joaquin Phoenix leads the killer cast that also includes Josh Brolin, Owen Wilson, Taylor Bonin, Katherine Waterston, Benicia del Toro, Reese Witherspoon and Martin Short.
