Sounds like Idina Menzel had a New Year’s Rocky Eve.
The Broadway star certainly caught the attention of millions of viewers Wednesday night when she tried to sing that high note in the beloved Frozen song “Let It Go.”
But according to the always honest Twitter world, she didn’t exactly rock the night.
For better or worse, Menzel heard the critics loud and clear and she has something to say about that cold, winter night.
“This is something I said in an interview a few months ago,” the 43-year-old star tweeted with a photo showing how she defines success.

“There are about 3 million notes in a two-and-a-half-hour musical; being a perfectionist, it took me a long time to realize that if I’m hitting 75 percent of them, I’m succeeding,” she said. “Performing isn’t only about the acrobatics and the high notes: It’s staying in the moment, connecting with the audience in an authentic way, and making yourself real to them through the music.”
She continued, “I am more than the notes I hit, and that’s how I try to approach my life.”
In Menzel’s defense, the great outdoors of Times Square isn’t exactly the best venue to belt out a classic. And with frigid temperatures, we can only imagine how it felt to walk onstage.
“You can’t get it all right all the time, but you can try your best,” she concluded. “If you’ve done that, all that’s left is to accept your shortcomings and have the courage to try to overcome them.”
Don’t worry, Menzel. Thousands of parents still have “Let It Go” on replay. Plus, we still have our calendars marked for the Frozen Fever short. Is it March 13 yet?!
