Hozier Covers “Lay Me Down,” and Sam Smith Can’t Even Handle How Amazing the Motown Version Is—Watch Now!

Stop what you’re doing and watch Hozier turn Sam Smiths wonderful, slow ballad, “Lay Me Down,” into a Motown-inspired, funky jam.

There isn’t even a debate here—Hozier (real name Andrew Hozier-Byrne) nailed it. In fact, it’s so catchy and so amazing, Smith himself tweeted about Hozier’s recording from BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge. “Brother @Hozier – f–king love the Live Lounge cover!!!! Anything you sing makes me heart jump xx Big kisses sir xx,” Smith tweeted Tuesday.

We’re not even fangirling over this version; the Twittersphere agrees! Check out some fans’ reactions upon hearing the Jackson 5-sounding song.

You get the point.

The “Take Me to Church” crooner opened up to E! News at the 2015 Billboard Music Awards and told Giuliana Rancic what he would do if he didn’t make it in the music industry (God forbid!), and his answer might surprise you! “I’m interested in psychology, or I certainly was,” he joked. When G asked him if whether or not he could analyze the artists on the red carpet, he didn’t exactly say no!
