How Does Game of Thrones’ Latest Loss Rank Among The

von Lauren Piester |  Lauren Piester 12. April 2015 – 22:00

See you later, Mance Rayder.

The wildling king and former Night’s Watchman said buh bye in tonight’s episode when he was burned at the stake for his crimes by Stannis Baratheon and the Night’s Watch.

While we fortunately didn’t have to watch anyone actually burn alive since the ever-noble Jon Snow put him out of his misery with an arrow, we did have to watch him die with the knowledge that he could have avoided death all together.

Earlier in the episode, Stannis had sent Jon to present Mance (Ciaran Hinds) with a deal: bow down to Stannis and have the wildlings join his army and live, or be burned.

Mance was just a little too proud to agree to such terms, so his execution went on as planned…almost.

While we can’t way we’ll miss Mr. Rayder all that much, we can’t imagine that Jon’s little intervention is going to go over too well with all of his fellow crows, some of whom are very staunchly anti-wildling. It was also a dangerous move given that wildling Gilly and her baby are currently living at Castle Black, mostly thanks to Jon’s insistence.

Plus, who’s to say (aside from those who have read the books) what will happen to the free folk now?

We’ll have to see what happens, but for now, let’s mourn the poor Mance Rayder by seeing how his demise stacks up against the series’ other deaths with our gallery!
