Henry Cavill is currently putting on his tights and red cape and working on a new standalone Superman movie, it has been confirmed. The news was announced by the actor’s manager Danny Garcia, who confirmed the latest standalone movie for the comic book hero is currently in development over at Warner Bros.

Speaking to Newsweek, Garcia, who also manages the career of ex-husband Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, said: “Henry has a big appetite. We’ve been in a five-month period of time where he’s re-strategizing, acquiring property [for his production company Promethean].”

“He’s filming [Justice League] now, he’s in development for the Superman standalone… he’s beginning to expand that world. It’s beautifully teed up. In a year from now, or two years from now, he’s going to be a force globally.”
The news comes after The Wrap reported last month that Warner Bros had put the Man of Steel sequel into development. A source close to the project told the website that Superman is a top priority for Warner Bros and ‘getting the character right for audiences is of tantamount importance’.

Also in development over at Warner Bros is a Batman standalone movie, which will be directed by star Ben Affleck. The next release in the DC series will be Wonder Woman next June, with Justice League following in November.
