‘Gilmore Girls’ creator Amy Sherman-Palladino may have disappointed us recently with the news that there will be no revival of the iconic series, but the screenwriter is currently working on a musical – though we’re yet to find out what it will be about.
Alexis Bledel starred as Rory in ‘Gilmore Girls’
Ok, so we’re probably going to have to wave goodbye to Stars Hollow, but at least creator Amy Sherman-Palladino is working on new projects to obsess about. At the ATX Television Festival in Austin on Saturday (June 6th 2015), she seemed excited to reveal that she was currently working on a book for a musical. And while she refused to reveal any significant details about it save for it being ‘based on a movie nobody would have seen’, she did insist that it would be an ‘original’ piece.
Sherman-Palladino has dipped her toes back into television a couple of times since the abrupt end of ‘Gilmore Girls’, with short-lived series ‘The Return of Jezebel James’ and ‘Bunheads’, and now it seems she’s back on it. ‘I’m working on a pilot for the delightful Amazon company’, she revealed. Again, we’ve no idea what to expect!
More: ‘Gilmore Girls’ revival not in the works
The writer certainly isn’t ruling out any further work on ‘Gilmore Girls’, but admits that she’s not thinking about it right now. ‘There’s nothing in the works at the moment’, she admitted. ‘Here’s the good thing: Nobody here hates each other. It would have to be the right everything-the right format, the right timing, it would have to be honored in a certain way. And if it ever came around, we would all jump in and do it. And if it ever happened, I promise you I’d do it correctly.’
We’re not sure if that sounds promising or not.
