‘Game of Thrones’ star Emilia Clarke has recently been making her views about on-screen nudity very clear indeed – she wants to see more balance between the sexes and the amount of time they have to spend nude in the front of the camera.
The 29 year old British star, who is set to reprise her role as Daenerys Targaryen in the HBO fantasy series when the sixth season returns later this month, appeared on ‘The Late Late Show’ and explained her point of view to host James Corden in a campaign becoming known as #FreeTheP.
Emilia Clarke has been campaigning to get the ‘Game of Thrones’ showrunners to ‘free the penis’
“I feel like there’s a little bit of inequality that happens with women, this woman in particular, and what happens with the other guys,” Clarke said on Monday night (April 18th). “I just think that should be even.”
With ‘GoT’ ranking as one of the most popular TV shows ever, and certainly the most illegally downloaded, Clarke has long had to deal with the reality that a huge proportion of the world’s population has seen her with no clothes on.

Which is fine, she’s always maintained, but she’d like to see the show’s penchant for nudity spread more fairly to the male stars. “Free the penis!” she then cheered before chanting to the crowd along with fellow guests Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer from ‘Broad City’: “Take it off!”
About the controversial rape scenes involving her character Daenerys, the show’s creator George R.R. Martin recently defended the portrayals from the outcry that received them last year, and Clarke also maintained that it was her character’s decision about what to do after the horrifying scene that was important.
“The consensual sex she has thereafter was genius. She is physically saying, ‘You can’t rape me again. I’m going to be in control and show you something you’ve never seen before’,” the British actress told Glamour magazine recently. “At the heart of it, we’re telling a story; you need that part of the story to feel empathy for Daenerys. You see her attacked by her brother, raped by her husband, and then going, ‘F*** all of you, I’m gonna rule the world.”
