The Apollo 13 star, 65, will appear in a revival of Sam Shepard’s 1978 play Buried Child with Amy, also 65, at the British capital’s Trafalgar Studios venue later this year (16).
The real-life couple will play married farmers Dodge and Halie, reprising their roles from a recent Broadway production.
Ed is hoping audiences in London will enjoy the Pulitzer Prize winning play’s complex take on family life.
“I think most families have a few secrets, or some strange aspect to their history,” he tells the Daily Mail. “We’re all fascinated by family dynamics, but I’d much rather sit in an audience and watch someone else’s problems!”
Ed and Amy wed in 1983 while they were filming the American period drama Places in the Heart. They have since appeared a number of times on stage and screen together.
Buried Child’s London run is scheduled to begin on 14 November (16) and run until 18 February next year (17).
