Drake has spoken out about why he boycotted one of the industry’s biggest music ceremonies: the Grammys. The star has slammed the academy, accusing it of racial profiling and labelling his hit song Hotline Bling rap because of the colour of his skin.

The Canadian musician won best rap performance and best rap song for his hugely popular track at the 59th Grammy Awards earlier this month but the 30-year-old was nowhere to be seen at the ceremony.

The singer spoke to OVO radio show Beats 1 and said the awards didn’t “feel right”.
He said: “I won two awards but I don’t even want them ‘cos it feels weird for some weird.
“I feel almost like alienated or you’re trying to purposely alienate me by making me win rap awards or either just pacify me by handing me something – putting me in that category, ‘cos it’s the only place you can figure out where to put me.”

He added: “Maybe because I’ve rapped in the past or because I’m black, I can’t figure out why.”
The Grammys were accused of racism for snubbing Beyoncé’s Lemonade for Adele’s 25 for Album of the Year, in a shock twist that even Adele was surprised about.
The London-born singer dedicated her win to Beyoncé and even broke her award in half to share with the multi-award winning singer.
