Confirming months of speculation and recent rumors, Donald Glover has officially joined the cast of Disney and Lucasfilm’s upcoming Star Wars stand-along spinoff film in the role of Lando Calrissian. The news was announced minutes ago via the official Star Wars Twitter.
Due in theaters TBD in 2018, the Han Solo film is part of the series of stand alone films fleshing out the Galaxy Far, Far Away that also includes this December’s Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Like Rogue One, Han Solo will dig into the saga’s backstory, detailing the early adventures of Han Solo before he met Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia and joined the Rebel Alliance during the events of Star Wars: A New Hope.
