Disney Junior has ordered a fifth season of Doc McStuffins, with the new episodes set to air in 2018. The series aimed at 2- to 7-year-olds has been a ratings and critical hit since its March 2012 debut: it won a Peabody Award in 2015 and currently averages 16 million views on the Disney Junior app, VOD and Hulu, and reaches 150 million viewers worldwide each quarter, according to Disney.
The series centers on Dottie (aka Doc), a young girl who aspires to be a doctor like her mom and plies her trade at a clinic for her stuffed animals who come to life when adults aren’t around. First Lady Michelle Obama guest-starred as herself in an episode last Veterans Day and the brand has made its mark at the Disney Parks, book titles, soundtracks, DVDs and consumer products.
Doc McStuffins, which airs daily on Disney Channel and Disney Junior, is produced by Brown Bag Films in association with Disney Channel. Chris Nee is creator and executive producer.
