Disney has confirmed a slew of exciting upcoming films, including sequels for The Jungle Book and Maleficent, as well as stand-alone movies based on Cruella de Vil and Tinkerbell. The announcement comes as Jon Favreau’s The Jungle Book continues its reign on the top of the US box office, so far taking over $ 500 million worldwide.
Emma Stone will star as Cruella de Vil in a new Disney movie.
The studio did not specify release dates for any of the upcoming films, but did reveal the prime release dates they have set aside for the next three years. The dates Disney has claimed are: July 28, 2017 (instead of Dec. 22, 2017); April 6, 2018; Aug. 3, 2018; Dec. 25, 2018; and Dec. 20, 2019.

Disney had also previously claimed Nov. 2, 2018, and Nov. 8, 2019 for untitled live-action fairy tales, meaning there will be four of these films in 2018 alone. According to The Hollywood Reporter, one of the release dates will go to The Jungle Book 2, which is already in the works.
Angelina Jolie will soon be returning as Maleficent, with the sequel’s script once again written by Linda Woolverton. There will also be a sequel to classic Mary Poppins, from Into the Woods director Rob Marshall, which is set to star Emily Blunt and Lin-Manuel.
101 Dalmatians villain Cruella de Vil will be getting a stand-alone film, which will star Emma Stone in the title role. Kelly Marcel, who recently worked on the screenplay for Fifty Shades of Grey is said to be writing the script. Tinkerbell is too having a solo outing, starring Reese Witherspoon, with Victoria Strouse writing.
