Roselyn Sanchez has joined Paula Patton, Omar Epps and Laz Alonso in Stranded. From writer-director Deon Taylor, the indie follows a journalist (Patton) who is kidnapped after she starts investigating the world of sex trafficking. Sanchez will play Malia, Darren’s (Alonso) girlfriend who struggles with trust issues in their relationship before realizing she must do everything she can to save herself and her best friend. Sanchez spent four seasons on the recently canceled Lifetime series Devious Maids but is reteaming with the network on the television movie Death of a Vegas Showgirl, in which she stars and produced. It’s slated to air in October. Other credits include The Game Plan, Act of Valor and Rush Hour 2. Sanchez is repped by APA, Alchemy Entertainment and Hirsch Wallerstein.
Silver Lining Entertainment said today that it has begin production on A Question of Faith starring Richard T. Jones (Godzilla), C. Thomas Howell (The Amazing Spider-Man), Kim Fields (The Facts of Life), Jaci Velasquez (Chasing Papi), T.C. Stallings (War Room) and GregAlan Williams (Greenleaf). The faith-based film revolves around three families — same community, different cultures — who are all complete strangers, living vastly separate lives until a tragic texting-and-driving accident puts them on converging paths of love, forgiveness, grace and mercy. Kevan Otto (In the Name of God) is directing the pic written by Terrence “Ty” Manns. Angela White is producing with Dr. Cameron Lewis serving as exec producer. The film is scheduled for release in 2016.
