It wouldn’t be Thanksgiving without #DanceWars!
As promised, Dancing With the Stars‘ Derek Hough and Julianne Hough kicked off their annual challenge Thursday night. Joined by friends and family, the siblings—who wore festive turkey hats—performed a choreographed dance routine to Sheppard‘s “Geronimo.” Derek posted the first video to his Instagram account and wrote, “#thanksgivingdancewars has begun!!! What really happens during family prayer.”
The second video, which Derek and Julianne both published, featured crazy camera work! “Welcome to the home of #thanksgivingdancewars #dancebattle. TURKEY MAN SAYS BRING IT!!!” the Houghs wrote.
Maria Menounos responded by performing Taylor Swift‘s “Shake It Off” with her friends and family. “Here we go…@juleshough & @derekhough started while I was still cooking. but we are gonna crush everyone tonight!!” E!’s Untold host wrote on Instagram. “Here are a few of my song ideas if u wanna do ur own videos w/ur families: bang bang, anaconda. #thanksgivingdancewars @markballas where r u?”
Mark Ballas didn’t immediately respond…but the night is young!
The famous friends created #DanceWars during Thanksgiving in 2013; Derek and Maria were partnered on ABC’s Dancing With the Stars and have remained friends ever since. The video challenge was so much fun that Julianne recruited her BFF Nina Dobrev to join them for the Christmas edition of #DanceWars.
